About The Directory
The Registered Piano Technicians Directory was founded to resolve a critical consumer discovery failure in the musical instrument service sector.
Why We Exist
Because the trade of piano technology is completely unregulated by federal or state law, homeowners, parents of music students, churches, and school music departments frequently hire unvetted tuners from search engines or general lead brokers who lack the mechanical expertise required to properly service delicate acoustic instruments.
Standard search engines fail to distinguish between:
- Amateur hobbyists using smartphone tuning apps.
- Retail piano stores that subcontract service to junior apprentices.
- Master craftsmen who have passed rigorous board examinations in acoustic aural tuning and grand action regulation.
Our Core Principles
- Strict Credential Verification: We only index individuals who hold the Registered Piano Technician (RPT) credential from the Piano Technicians Guild. We do not list uncertified associates or commercial lead broker networks.
- Zero Middleman Markups: We publish direct telephone numbers, direct email addresses, and personal website links. We do not capture leads, route calls through proxy numbers, or take cuts of technician fees.
- Documented Service Attributions: We only attribute specialized services (such as Dampp-Chaser installation, concert grand regulation, or voicing) to practitioners who explicitly advertise and document those capabilities on their public business profiles.
- Independent & Objective: We accept zero payments for preferred placement, zero referral kickbacks, and maintain complete editorial independence.
