Verification Methodology
This directory enforces strict epistemic standards to ensure that all information published is accurate, verifiable, and grounded in primary source documentation.
1. Credential Verification Standards
To be eligible for inclusion in this directory, a technician must hold active status as a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) with the Piano Technicians Guild. This status confirms the successful completion of three standardized board examinations:
- A written examination covering piano physics, scale design, and repair methodology.
- A practical aural concert tuning examination evaluated against an electronic master standard.
- A practical technical examination evaluating regulation and repair craftsmanship on vertical and grand actions.
Technicians holding Associate (non-RPT) status are not eligible for inclusion.
2. Source Citation & Data Integrity
Every profile published in this directory cites its primary source verification handle. Sourcing includes:
- Published public chapter referral rosters maintained by local PTG chapters (e.g. Austin PTG, Fort Worth PTG, Seattle PTG, Denver Chapter PTG, Atlanta PTG).
- Official practitioner business websites, public commercial filings, and professional portfolio pages.
- Official institutional faculty listings (e.g. University of Washington, University of Denver, University of North Texas, MIT).
3. Separation of Physical Office vs Service Area
In accordance with our strict factual accuracy standards, we explicitly distinguish between a technician's physical office headquarters (city, state, zip) and their declared regional service territory.
4. Pre-Launch Factual Accuracy Auditing
Prior to publication, a 15-profile random sample and a 100% dataset integrity check are executed across the entire repository to ensure all links resolve, all telephone numbers are formatted cleanly, and all credential claims are verified against primary sources.
